SMILJIAN RADIC
The career of Chilean architect Smiljan Radic is one of the most unique on the contemporary architectural scene. Although he works mainly in Chile, his work has crossed borders after building the Serpentine Gallery pavilion (London, 2014). This issue of 2G presents a selection of the houses built by Radic in his almost thirty-year career, from the extension of the Charcoal Burner's House (Cupliprán, 1997-1998) or his Little House (Vilches, 1995-1996) to his latest Wooden House (Lake Colico, 2014-2015) and Prism House (Coinguillio, 2017-2018). In addition to the fourteen houses presented, a text by Enrique Walker explains the keys to understanding his domestic work starting from the Little House, and another by Moisés Puente evokes all the interventions that Radic carried out in a property in Vilches for himself and his family. Two texts by the architect himself talk about the tradition of some Chilean houses that interest him and the role that repair plays in architecture, beyond simple restoration or preservation.
