This book presents a photographic and iconographic investigation in the quarries of Oise led by the artist Simon Boudvin, who seeks to detect traces of life in the rock (fossils) and to show how the exploitation of the rock has marked the workers' bodies. More conceived as an artist's book than as an exhibition catalogue, the book nevertheless accompanies the work that will be presented at La Maréchalerie de Versailles (sculpture in situ on the one hand, images and documents in the book on the other hand) as part of the 2022 Architecture and Landscape Biennale.
