MICHEL LANOS
From the 1950s to the dawn of the 21st century, Michel Lanos was a potter, ceramist and artist, through a career filled with experiences, exchanges and questioning. It was in Biot, a Mediterranean village with a pottery tradition, that he learned his trade, then he worked in different workshops as a turner, before setting up his own business in the 1970s.
Interested in stoneware and high-temperature glazes like many potters at that time, he had the courage to listen to his desires to find his own way. In his intimacy with the earth, guided by the pleasure of creating and by the love of painting that has always inhabited him, he managed to fully express his personality. The original and strong work that he produced in the last part of his career, from the end of the 1980s, bears witness to this. It resonates today in deep harmony with the man he was, colorful, free, sometimes disconcerting, always authentic.
