Stoneware and porcelain have two qualities in common: hardness and impermeability, which they owe to the use of clays capable of vitrifying without melting, and to the practice of high-temperature firing allowing this vitrification.
Stoneware clays contain stoneware and titanium, which makes them opaque and colored when fired; the purest kaolins and porcelain clays can fire white and translucent.

Katia Jacquet works with wood and earth, stoneware and porcelain. These raw, powerfully expressive materials are shaped to create a poetry of objects that inhabit our daily lives.
Sculptural ceramics are also functional, they are made of stoneware, shaped and turned in an artisanal gesture. Their firing at 1250°C gives them a resistance and a permanence that has become rare.

Piece turned and assembled by hand in his workshop in Les Lilas.
Made of stoneware and porcelain. Enamelled interior.
