THE WILD STONES / Fernand Pouillon

Within the walls of Thoronet Abbey, genius and faith will forever vibrate. A builder monk constructed this Cistercian masterpiece in the 12th century. His logbook recounts the infinite technical difficulties, the weakness and courage of men, and the doubts that assail him. He shares his anxieties, his reflections, and marvels at the sealed encounter between art and God.


Born in 1912, Fernand Pouillon designed many public buildings and facilities in France, Algeria and Iran during his career as an architect. Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1984, he practiced until his death in 1986. Les Pierres Sauvages was awarded the Prix des Deux-Magots in 1965.
