    Born into a Parisian family, Jacques Charpentier studied at the Ecole Boulle, graduating top of his class in 1945.
    The young decorator, friend of Réné Prou, opened a workshop in the 17th arrondissement and specialized in the manufacture of decorative objects, then launched into the design of stainless steel sofas in the early 1960s by moving to 41, rue Lappe and 9, passage Thiéré in the 11th arrondissement. The company had nearly 60 employees at the end of the 1970s.

    He collaborates with the Jansen house on many decoration projects and offers his advice on interior design with his distribution chain Flat International which also offers the models of Philippe Jean and Pierre Folie. The "Apollo" and "Chandigarh" sofas will be the most marketed with the "inox" armchair, the "Kalder", "Astrolabe" lamps as well as the "Modular" system. When the decorator dies, his two sons take over the management of the company.
