One of Andrée Putman's latest house projects, based on plans, drawings and photos of an amazing apartment in San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain).
This publication is the story of one of Andrée Putman's last projects, an apartment in the Basque city of San Sebastián. The book includes the original drawings made to plan the house and photos of the completed project. The house remains contemporary and timeless at the same time.
Andrée Putman was born in 1925 in Paris. Abandoning her initial plans for a musical career, she worked from the 1950s as a journalist and designer for the magazines "Elle" and "l'Oeil". Open to the art of her time, she frequented many artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Bram Van Velde, Alberto Giacometti and Niki de Saint Phalle. While working as a stylist in 1958 for the Prisunic chain of stores and then for the Mafia agency in 1968, she intuitively spotted many future talents (Issey Miyake, Ossie Clark, Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler). From the 1980s, Andrée Putman developed numerous projects, in interior design, rehabilitation, as well as in the transformation of spaces into cultural venues, which gradually contributed to a growing international reputation (Morgans Hotel, New York; Boutiques Azzedine Alaïa, Paris; Musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux; La Concorde; Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen). In 1978, she created the ECART design office and brought back into fashion works by forgotten creators from the 1930s.
